Heritage & Tradition

Born in Bali and the first Indonesian female professor in architecture, Anastasia Sulistyawati envisioned and established The Hill Villas in appreciation of Balinese culture and heritage that she has devoted her life to studying.Traditional Balinese architecture and craftsmanship are prominent throughout the villas, such as the Bales used as gazebos,converted Lumbungs, thatched roofs and stone work.Professor Anastasia Sulistyawati is a lecturer at the University of Udayana and is also a respected author on Balinese culture currently completing her latest book The Dictionary of Balinese Architecture.

Corporate and Events

There is a choice of locations at The Hill for hosting various events. These include, meetings and conferences, private dining, wedding receptions and private parties. The Bale Paruman offers an ideal venue for business meetings and incentive groups of up to 20 people. The meeting room is complete with amenities and serviced by dedicated personnel. Jepun Villa and Swastika are both ideal for receptions and private gatherings, of up to 150 people (standing). All the above can be hired out for your event and set-up in a variety of styles according to your needs and preferences. Catering for the events can be anything from working lunches to 3 course dinners.

Cooking Class - Experience hands-on cooking classes and fully engage in Balinese lifestyle at The Hill Villas, using local fresh ingredients learn how to cook traditional Balinese dishes and long treasured recipes. Flower Arrangements – using tropical fauna explore your flower arranging skills, which you can then take with you to your villa. Balinese Crafts this consist of making traditional Balinese offering Canang. It is a skill that is acquired by the locals and becomes part of their lifestyle for worship and offering.

Balinese percussion orchestra music, known as gamelan, is highly developed and varied. Balinese performing arts often portray stories from Hindu epics such as the Ramayana but with heavy Balinese influence. Famous Balinese dances include pendet, legong, baris, topeng, barong, gong keybar, and kecak (the monkey dance).
