The Hill Villas pays tribute to the unique local culture and customs which the architect, Professor Anastasia Sulistyawati, devoted her life to researching. Being a native of Bali, Indonesia’s first female professor in Architecture envisioned a property combining all the elements of Balinese cultural heritage.
The Hill Villas attests to the perfect blend of these elements. Gazebos and dining areas use open structures called Bale – a traditional multifunctional structure. The converted Lumbung, a conventional rice granary the size of which indicates social status, communicates and demonstrates respect.
Professor Anastasia Sulistyawati is a lecture at the University of Udayana and is also
a respected author on Balinese culture. Currently, completing her latest book
The Dictionary of Balinese Architecture.
