Born in Bali and the first Indonesian female professor in architecture, Anastasia Sulistyawati envisioned and established The Hill Villas in appreciation of Balinese culture and heritage that she has devoted her life to studying. Traditional Balinese architecture and craftsmanship are prominent throughout the villas, such as the Bales used as gazebos, converted Lumbungs, thatched roofs and stone work. Professor Anastasia Sulistyawati is a lecturer at the University of Udayana and is also a respected author on Balinese culture currently completing her latest book The Dictionary of Balinese Architecture.
